This week a significant vulnerability, that has been called the Heartbleed Bug and which affected encryption across much of the Internet, was discovered and made public. Like many organizations, Peoples Bank has responded by reviewing our systems to determine whether we were vulnerable to, or affected by, this bug and what response steps might be needed. Our review to date has revealed that Peoples Bank’s systems were NOT affected by the Heartbleed vulnerability and that your confidential information with us was not compromised.
Peoples Bank will continue to monitor its systems for issues related to the Heartbleed Bug as part of our constant efforts to protect your information from possible security threats.
As a result of this recent issue, you still may want to consider changing ALL of your passwords to all websites at this time. This is especially true if you use the same or similar passwords for multiple sites and/or if you have not changed your passwords recently. We also believe that this is a good opportunity to review the strength of your passwords and the frequency with which you change them.
